ENTER2019 – the 26th annual international eTourism Conference – featured cutting-edge research and industry case studies on the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in travel and tourism. Organized by the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT), ENTER2019 took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from January 30 to February 1, 2019. This year’s conference theme, “eTourism: Towards a Sustainable Digital Society” was an invitation to researchers and practitioners to discuss the role of ICTs and tourism in the sustainable transformation of our society. This double special issue includes twenty-four research notes and short papers. The success and continuity of the ten years of collaboration between the IFITT-eTourism Community and eRTR are attributed to the hard work and dedication of the ENTER conference chairs, reviewers, authors, and the eRTR team, in particular Dr. Ulrike Gretzel who led this initiative during her time as the Editor-in-Chief of eRTR. The research track of ENTER2019 covers a diverse variety of fields within the area of ICT and tourism. After a rigorous double-blind review process, 35 full research papers as well as 24 research notes were accepted for presentation at the conference. The full papers were published by Springer International Publishing1, whereas the research notes are included in this double issue of e-Review of Tourism Research (eRTR). While still maintaining a broad topic of ICT applications in travel and tourism, the papers presented in this eRTR double issue focus, in particular, on data analytics, peer-to- peer economy, information and communication technologies in tourism, social media and websites as well as tourism destinations. The research notes present new and highly promising research or applications in the eTourism field. We greatly appreciate the considerable time put in by all members of the ENTER2019 Scientific Committee who helped us to ensure that the content of the research papers is of high quality. We are also thankful to the ENTER2019 Overall Chairs – George Angelos Papadopoulos and Marianna Sigala, the IFITT President - Iis Tussyadiah, other ENTER2019 organizers, the IFITT Board, and all members of IFITT for their support and for accommodating the many inquiries made while managing the research track. Finally, we would also like to thank all authors for their willingness to disseminate their latest research at ENTER2019.
