Abstract: Terrorism is currently being discussed and researched on a global scale because it is controversial in various countries. On the one hand, terrorism is considered a trigger for war. On the other hand, it is viewed as an impact of the global world. In this regard, this research aims to explore terrorism in Indonesian literature and film from the perspective of reader responses. The theory used in this research is a psychological study of reader response, which adapts Iser's thinking. The method employed is qualitative. The respondents are 200 teenagers (ages 18-20 years). The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and interviews. The research results show that, first, in relation to readability, more than 50 percent of respondents have read and watched Indonesian films related to terrorism. Second, Indonesian literature and films related to terrorism are closely connected to psychology. Third, these works have a psychological influence on their readers. For this reason, Indonesian literature and films related to terrorism actually have more positive aspects than negative ones. Fourth, from the aspect of reader responses related to criticism of Indonesian literature and films, the theme of terrorism serves to eliminate stereotypes in film representation. Keywords: Film, Literature, Reader psychology, Terrorism. 1. Introduction Studies on terrorism are currently trending. Several terrorism studies include political context terrorism [1-4] educational context terrorism (Thomas, 2016; Berrebi, 2007; Khan, 2019; ), context terrorism tourism [5-9]. Terrorism currently becoming discussion and scale research globally because terrorism has become a controversy in various countries. On the one hand, terrorism is considered a trigger for war. On the other hand, terrorism is considered as an impact of the global world [10-12]. Terrorism is considered to be part of the global world/global village because of the emergence of terrorism in various countries in the world. Terrorism as a movement has an impact on various segments of life in the global context, starting from psychological impact [13-15] to with socio-culture [16, 17]. No just that, the impact associated with loss material And spiritual also very big. The bombing that occurred in some countries that causes infrastructure damage and causes death is impact the biggest one caused by terrorism. This is what causes terrorism to become a global enemy because it harms the countries attacked by terrorists. On the one hand, globalists are seen as supporting the revival and development of terrorism. On the other hand, globalists are trying to destroy terrorism because it is considered to destroy and damage world peace. The study of terrorism is not only a political context, an educational context, a tourism context. The emergence of terrorism in literature and film cannot be separated from the fact that literature and film are representations of the world of reality. In relation to terrorism in the context of literature and film, terrorism is narrated through the characters who appear in literature and film. Besides that, terrorism to can appeared through narrative or visualization in literature and film. Emergence terrorism in literature and film these appear in two categories. First, literature and films raise terrorism as a major theme so that the dominance that appears in them is related to terrorism. As for categories second, terrorism in literature And film appear in minor theme so terrorism is not so dominant in literature and film. In Indonesia, the study of terrorism is currently also becoming a trend. Several studies, among others, discuss terrorism in relation to the context of historicity [23] terrorism in the legal context [24, 25] and the context of preventing terrorism [26, 27]. Studies on terrorism in global scale literature, for example Kolani [28] who examines global literature on the context of terrorism. Studies on terrorism in literature and film in Indonesia have been carried out from the following perspective; Andalas, et al. [29] who researched the memory of terrorism in modern Indonesian literature, Hasanah researched Indonesian literature in relation to media literacy, religious figures, who are associated with and have a function as an antidote to the dangers of terrorism; Qalbi [30] who examines terrorism in Indonesian literature which is linked to discriminatory contexts; Rahayu who examines terrorism in Garin's films through the context of discourse analysis. Studies on terrorism in Indonesia have become widespread following the emergence of several terrorist incidents that occurred in several regions in the years 2000-2010. One of them is terrorism happen in Bali (occurrence bombing) Which cause victim inhabitant civil deaths and also damage to public facilities. The facts of terrorism in Indonesia are also presented in the form of literature and films. Unfortunately, no research has yet linked terrorism in literature and film from the psychological perspective of reader response. The interesting side of this study is that the researcher wants to explore and raise readers' views regarding the literature and films they have watched. Apart from that, researchers also provide an overview of the impact of reading literature and films related to terrorism. Before talking about reader response studies, it is explained that literature is related to psychology because literature contains psychological elements which are raised explicitly or implicitly by the author Ahmadi [31] and Ahmadi [32]. Reader response studies is a study that prioritizes the interpretive construction of readers. Reader response studies are studies that bring readers closer to the text. In this context, readers are interpreters who have different understandings, interpretations and environments [33-35]. The key term reader response studies is basically related to the reader's interaction with literary texts. The study of reader responses historically emerged in Ancient Greece. One of the figures in Ancient Greece was Aristotle who associated reading literature with catharsis soul) through reading literary works [36]. In relation to psychology, a reader uses mental processes in interpreting texts so that this cannot be separated from the psychology of the reader's response [37]. In psychological reader response, a reader with an intellectual view interprets the text according to the reader's psychological context. Therefore, in this context, a person's psychological type also determines the interpretation of the text. Therefore, this research aims to explore 1) terrorism in literature and film in Indonesia reviewed through psychological perspective of reader response and 2) the impact of literature and films related to terrorism on psychology reader. 2. Research Methods This research is qualitative research. Referring to the views of Creswell [38] this qualitative research relies more on the researcher's interpretation of the research text/data. The data analyzed and interpreted by researchers is adjusted/relevant to the theory used [39-47]. At this stage, the researcher used/adapted Iser's views regarding the psychology of readers' responses to Indonesian literature and films (related to terrorism). Data collection techniques were carried out by means of questionnaires and interviews. The respondents of this study were teenagers aged 17-20 years. The number of respondents was 200. After verification and validation, the research data included 130 respondents. For the research stage, researchers refer to fishbone with the concept of cause and effect. 3. Research Results and Discussion Response to Terrorism in Indonesian Literature and Film: Psychological Perspective Reader responses were carried out by asking several questions listed via the Google Form platform. Have you ever read (Indonesian) literature on the theme of terrorism? 6. Have you ever watched (Indonesia) with a terrorism theme? 7. Do you like (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme? 8. Do you like (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme? 9. Write down the title of the Indonesian novel with a terrorism theme that you have read! 10. Write down the title of an Indonesian film with a terrorism theme that you have read! 11. What is your opinion regarding (Indonesian) literature with the theme of terrorism! 12. What do you think about the (Indonesian) film with the theme of terrorism! 13. Explain your response regarding the psychological effects/influence of Indonesian novels with the theme of terrorism on society? 14. Explain your response regarding the psychological effects/influence of Indonesian films with the theme of terrorism on society? 15. What are your suggestions/criticisms for Indonesian literature and films with a terrorism theme? From this form, as many as 130 respondents gave their responses to Indonesian Literature and Film: Psychological Perspectives on Reader Responses. From these responses, the following results were obtained: 3.1. The Results of the Question "Explain Your Response and Views Regarding Terrorism!" All respondents answered questions about their responses and views regarding terrorism. Based on this diagram, the results obtained were that most respondents answered that they had never read (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme, namely 70.8%. Meanwhile, the fewest respondents answered that they had read (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme, namely 29.2%. 3.4. Answer to the Question "Have You Ever Watched a (Indonesian) Film with a Terrorism Theme?" From this question, 60.8% of respondents answered that they had never watched (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme and 39.2% of respondents answered that they had. Based on this diagram, the results obtained were that most respondents answered that they had never watched (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme, namely 60.8%. Meanwhile, the fewest respondents answered that they had watched (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme, namely 39.2%. 3.5. The Answer to the Question "Do You Like (Indonesian) Literature with a Terrorism Theme?" From this question, 66.2% of respondents answered that they were normal about (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme, 18.5% of respondents answered that they did not like (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme and 15.4% of respondents answered that they liked (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme. . Based on this diagram, the results obtained were that most respondents answered normally to (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme, namely 66.2%. Meanwhile, the fewest respondents answered that they liked (Indonesian) literature with a terrorism theme, namely 15.4%. 3.6. The Answer to the Question "Do You Like (Indonesian) Films with a Terrorism Theme?" From this question, 53.1% of respondents answered indifferent to (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme, 28.5% of respondents answered that they liked (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme and 18.5% of respondents answered that they did not like (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme. . Based on this diagram, the results obtained were that most respondents answered normal to (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme, namely 53.1%. Meanwhile, the fewest respondents answered that they did not like (Indonesian) films with a terrorism theme, namely 18.5%. 3.7. Conclusion Based on the results of the analysis/exposure in advance, it can be concluded as follows. First, in relation to readability, more than 50 percent of respondents have read and watched Indonesian films related to terrorism. Second, Indonesian literature and films related to terrorism are closely related to psychology. Third, Indonesian literature and films related to terrorism have a psychological influence on their readers. This influence can be related to fear, emotions, morality, and building empathy. For this reason, Indonesian literature and films related to terrorism actually have more positive sides than negative ones. Fourth, from the aspect of reader responses related to criticism of Indonesian literature and films, the theme of terrorism is the elimination of stereotypes in film representations, of course those related to certain religions. Apart from that, Indonesian literature and films are expected to pay attention to the emotions of the audience so as not to cause excessive fear. Use these works to raise awareness about terrorism in society. For this reason, collaboration with terrorism experts and psychologists is needed to ensure the accuracy and positive impact of the work. In the international context, this research is expected to be able to provide contributions related to Indonesian literature and films that have terrorism as their theme. In addition, this article is expected to be able to add references related to the study of reader responses to literature and films in Indonesia.
