GUEST EDITORIAL

I am delighted to accept the invitation to be Editor for this double issue of 
Education Libraries. There are so many aspects of librarianship today and in 
this issue we are focusing on one of them - intemational librarianship - and trust 
that the contents will prove both valuable and interesting. In keeping with this 
theme, it seems appropriate to publish articles by authors from Canada, Wales, 
Germany and the United States, respectively. 

The topic of intemational librarianship was chosen after contributors Anne 
Galler and Diann Rusch-Feja presented papers on the subject at a recent SLA 
conference. Both have adapted their presentations for this issue. Anne Galler's 
article, which also discusses Libraries for the Disadvantaged, one of her fields 
of expertise, leads naturally into an article on this topic by Dr. Sue Lithgow 
from Wales. Although both articles on international librarianship have the 
same title, Dr. Rusch-Feja's is approached from a different perspective. Nancy 
Floyd, director of the recently established National Library of Education in 

· Washington, concludes our featured articles with an overview of the services 
provided and future goals envisioned for the Library. 

The books reviewed are an eclectic selection ranging from a source book 
on religious higher education to an unusual work of Australian children's poetry. 
As always, our reviewers represent a diverse field of librarians and educators. 
It is hoped that all contributions will be enlightening and useful.
