evan goldstein graduated from Boston College cum laude with a B.A. in Theology and a minor in Philosophy. This fall, he begins an M.A. in Theology and Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, and hopes to pursue doctoral studies in the future. His research interests include questions of identity, such as race, gender, and sexuality, in theology, political theol- ogy, and re-evaluating Jewish and Christian traditions in light of developments in critical philosophical theories. author biographies catherine larrabee is a senior in the Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences. She is majoring in Theology and minoring in Medical Humanities. On campus, she is involved with the Gabelli Presidential Scholars Program, the Women’s Center, and the Arrupe International Immersion Program. She has spent her summers working at Haley House, studying Spanish in Costa Rica, and interning at Commonweal magazine. She is interested in social justice issues such as religion, gender, migration, and poverty, and hopes to continue studying these subjects in the future. doyle calhoun is a senior majoring in Linguistics and French in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences Honors program. He has also studied at Boston University’s Editorial Institute. His interests involve the history of linguistics, French missionary linguistics, and literary linguistics. Investigation into the ways linguistic approaches to text can inform text-critical, interpretive, and editorial decisions continues to be a focus in his work. Doyle works as a Under- graduate Research Fellow for Dr. Margaret Thomas. For his senior thesis research project, he will focus on a set of French missionary grammars from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. olivia mccaffrey is a junior in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences majoring in International Studies and minoring in French. She received an Advanced Study Grant to examine the prevalence of Independent voters in Massachusetts, which is the topic of her article in this issue. She has completed an internship at the Massachusetts State House and worked in the Library of Congress. Olivia spent the summer of 2015 studying Modernism in Paris. She plays for the Boston College Symphony Orchestra and has worked with high school students as a presenter for Interna- tional Outreach and a teacher for the BC Splash program. allison schneider is a senior in the Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences majoring in Economics. She plans to continue in the Carroll School of Management after receiving her undergraduate studies to earn an M.B.A. with a concentration in fi- nance. Outside of her coursework in economics, Allison has concentrated her efforts in the area of social justice and has been active in BC’s service learning PULSE program. She also serves as the Treasurer for the Boston College chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, a national economics honor society. maria vazquez was born in Miami, FL and moved to Quincy, MA when she was ten years old. Maria, a first-generation college student, attends the University of California at Santa Barbara pursuing a doctorate in counseling psychology. Her interests include identity development, the role of psychosocial stressors on mental health, and programs for low-income communities of color. At BC, she worked with the McNair and Community Research Programs, and completed research with professors in the Lynch School of Education. She was also an ERA Peer Advisor and Fa- cilitator and the president of the Cuban-American Student Association. allyson tank grew up in Long Valley, NJ. She studied Biology at Boston College, and was part of the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program as well as the Biology Department Honors Program. Through these programs, she had the opportunity to complete a senior thesis on her research project in Dr. Welkin Johnson’s laboratory. Out- side of her research, she also enjoyed volunteering at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Mt. Alvernia Elemen- tary School. After graduation, she will be working for a year as a Patient Care Coordinator at a local dermatology practice and beginning her applications for medical school. benjamin shapiro is a member of the Carroll School of Management Class of 2016, double majoring in Marketing and History. Born in Jamestown, New York, but raised in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, Benjamin became an avid student of American Colonial and mercantile history after numerous childhood visits to the former Spanish settlement of St. Augustine, Florida, and the former whaling town of Nantucket, Massachusetts. In the near future, Benjamin hopes to finish his education at Boston College and then work in the creative realm of the marketing and advertis- ing field as a Creative Producer or Ad Copywriter, and eventually return to school to obtain his M.B.A. alec walker is a senior from New London, New Hampshire. He studies History with a minor in German. He is particularly interested in German intellectual history as it relates to the conception and critique of human rights. After gradu- ating in the spring of 2016, Alec hopes to take a year or two away from school in order to study and teach abroad. After this time off, he aspires to enter a Ph.D. program in History.
