Editors’ Preface

JohN A. DooDy AND PEtEr BUSch

This fall marks an end as well as a beginning for us.
Expositions has always been an unusual addition to the ranks of aca-

demic journals. With features like Academic roundtables, overheard
in the Academy, and Notes, Insights, and Flashes, we let our authors be
more experimental, conversational, and timely than is possible when
writing the typical scholarly article. We remain convinced of the need
for such a forum in the academy today. We have also found, however,
that a print publication may not be the best way to offer it.

Even as Expositions hearkens back to a time when most serious publi-
cations were broadly interdisciplinary, we also have much in common
with the new electronic media. Next year, therefore, Expositions will
return as an all-electronic journal published by Villanova University.
our new website will offer more of the features that distinguish us
from other academic journals as well as free access to archives of our
first three volumes. Please stop by in the coming months for calls for
papers and other announcements. We expect to begin reviewing man-
uscripts in summer 2010.

our heartfelt thanks go to Equinox Publications for investing a great
deal of time, money, and expertise in an uncertain venture. We are
especially grateful to Janet Joyce, our managing editor, and russell
Adams, our production editor, for maintaining such high standards
and for helping us learn to do the same.
