Contributors 

SILKE R. FALKNER holds an M.A. in Ge rman from McGill Univer­
sity. She is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program at McGill and has 
completed her coursework. The working title o f her dissertation is 
"Catharina Regina von Greiffenberg: Writ ing as a Woman in the Ba­
roque." Falkner's article "'The Rascals Really Whet my Appetite': 
Mephistopheles' Desiring Gaze in Goethe's Faus! II" will appear in 
Queering the Canon: Defying Sights in German Literature and Culture 
forthcoming wit h Camden H Ollse. 

JENNIFER MARSTON WILLlAM earned her M.A. in German from 
the University of Georgia in ALhens, GA. In her master's thesis, she 
dealt with Giinter Grass's Die Blechtrommel and is now enrolled in 
the Ph .D. program at Ohio State Universi ty in Columbus, Ohio. 
Beyond G rass, Marston William is very much interested in GOR­
literatu re as well as Holocaust literature. 

MARlA KROL studied German Philology at the Karl-Marx-Universitat 
in Lei pzig. Her Magislerarbeit de:llt with aspects of literary theory. 
Krol worked fo r th ree years at the Teacher's College in Rzeszow, 
Poland. She also holds an M.A. degree from Kem State University. 
Currently, Krol is enrolled in the Ph.D. program at the University of 
Pittsburgh. Her dissertation topic is Christoph H ein's concept of his­
tory and its deconst ructive posicion towards the phi losophy of his­
tory presented by the East German Ma rxist theory. 

CHRISTINA L. BONNER received her B.A. in German and Russian 
from O hio State University and an M.A. from the University of Cin­
cinnati . She is now ABD in the German Department at the Univer­
sity of Cincinnati. Presently, Bonner is the editorial assistant to the 
Lessing Yearbook. H er dissertation dea ls with the reception of 
Eichendorff's poetry in Lieder. Current researc h interests are in the 
field of literature and music as well as mus ical culture in nineteemh­
century German prose.

The purpose of the book review section is to introduce our read­
ership to primary works of literature published with in the last three 
years . O ur aim is not to pass critical judgment on a particular work. 
Instead we seek to discuss the work thematically and stylisticall y and, 
when possible, to contextualize the work with in the author's oeuvre 
or its respective genre. \Y/e have lhe cooperation of major German, 
Austrian, and Swiss publishers, and can provide review copies. 

Although we will gladly consider unsol icited book reviews, we
