ANNA-KARIN AXELSSON received her M.A. in German Literature from 
the University of Cincinnati in 1999. Originally from Sweden, Anna­
Karin attended the University of Cincinnati in conjunction with an 
exchange with Lund University, Sweden. Her research interests 
include Holocaust literature as well as Kafka studies. 

INA PFITZNER received a degree as Diplom-Sprachmittler for English 
and French from Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin in 1989, where she 
studied "The Representation of War in the Novels of French Author 
Martine Monod" in her Diplomarbeit. Since 1995 she has been work­
ing on a Ph.D. in French and Comparative Literatures at Louisiana 
State University in Baton Rouge. Her thesis focuses on Translation 
and Exile in texts by Pana'it Istrati, Samuel Beckett and Paul Celano 
She has published translations of poetry by Wolf Biermann. 

DAVID PRICKETT is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Germanic 
Languages and Literatures at the University of Cincinnati, where he 
also received both his B.A. and M.A.. The working title of his 
dissertation is "Homosexuality in Germany, 1896-1945: Investigation, 
Construction, Degeneration." David's interests are German-Ameri­
can topics, gender studies, and representations of sexuality and power 
relationships in literature. 

JOANNA KEDZIERSKA STIMMEL, originally from Poland, is currently 
working on completing a Ph.D. in German Literature at Georgetown 
University in Washington, DC. She was a participant at the annual 
Focus conference in 1999. Joanna's research interests focus primarily 
on Kleist, 19th century literature and film studies.
