Dear colleagues,

It is our pleasure to present to you a selection of papers from 
the 6th International Conference on Geology Resources Manage-
ment and Sustainable Development (ICGRMSD2018) held in Bei-
jing, China, on December 27-28, sponsored by two organizations: 
Hubei Zhongke Geology and Environment Technology Service 
Centre and the School of Energy Resources, China University of 
Geosciences (Beijing).

In China, geological science is the state’s premier research 
area which forms part of the government planning and environ-
ment strategy. Over one hundred scholars from China have joined 
us and presented their latest research, reporting on geophysical, 
geochemical, and geospatial data in the conference.  

The Scientific content of the conference spanned 10 topics 
including: (1) Management of Geological and Mineral Resources 
and Sustainable Development; (2) Safety Engineering and Evalu-
ation of Geological Resources; (3) Geological Resource Manage-
ment and Environmental Economic Evaluation; (4) Land Re-
source Management and Sustainable Development; (5)  
Development, Planning and Management of Tourism Resources; 
(6) Evaluation of the value of Geological Relics, Mining Parks

and Geoparks; (7) Mine Geological Environment Protection, 
Restoration and Control and Mine Geological Hazard Prevention; 
(8) Investment and Operation Management of Mining Enter-
prises; (9) The Development and Management of the Resource 
Industry; (10) Investment and Operation Management of Geo-
logical Prospecting Units and Mining Enterprises. 

The 6th International Conference on Geology Resources 
Management and Sustainable Development (ICGRMSD2018) 
 received over 200 papers and chose 11 of the most suitable and 
outstanding ones to publish in Geologia Croatica, which elabo-
rates on almost all the mentioned topics covered at the confe-
rence. 

Additionally, this special issue tries hard to represent both 
the traditional and new methods in geological research. Some of 
the new research studies dealing with the application of innova-
tive technologies and their application in China for geological 
research are also exhibited within it. 

We wish to express our gratitude to both authors and review-
ers and we hope that the presented papers will be useful not only 
to geologists but also to other professionals as well.
