Shreya Kalra

Shreya Kalra is a freshman in 
the School of Foreign Service 
at Georgetown University on 

the pre-med track, with an intended 
major in Science, Technology, and 
International Affairs. In the future, 
she hopes to pursue a career as a 
practicing physician whilst also 
becoming involved in policymaking 
to combat health disparities.

Nicole Tepper

Nicole Tepper is a junior 
in the school of Nursing 
and Health Studies at 

Georgetown University, majoring 
in Healthcare Management and 
Policy. She plans to pursue a career 
in consulting related to healthcare 
services and drug policies. Nicole 
advocates for underrepresented 
students working in the healthcare 
sector.

Alexandra Barnes-Schwartz

Alex received her bachelor’s 
degree in Biomedical 
science with minors in 

Global Studies and Environmental 
Science in 2020. She will be 
graduating with her Masters of 
Science in Global Health from the 
Georgetown Graduate School of 
Arts and Sciences.  She is starting 
law school at Washington University 
School of Law in St. Louis in the fall 
to study the intersection of science 
and  international affairs.

Isabella Romero

Isabella Romero is a sophomore 
from Miami, FL studying 
Psychology in the College. 

As a current Research Assistant 
at the Yip Emotional and Social 
(YES) Lab, she is interested in the 
complex intersection between 
human behavior and business. In 
the future, she hopes to apply these 
conclusions towards developing 
effective management practices. 

Daniel Ashat

Daniel Ashat is a rising 
senior in the Georgetown 
School of Health Class 

of 2023. Daniel is studying in the 
Department of Human Science and 
is on the Pre-Medicine Track. He 
hopes to continue his research into 
medical school and  focus on public 
health, epidemiology, and the social 
determinants of health. 

Miranda Wesley

Miranda Wesley is a 
senior in the School 
of Health majoring 

in Global Health. She plans to 
pursue a career in global public 
health communications and social 
marketing, as well as project 
management.

About the Authors

Shankar Thiru

Shankar Thiru is a senior 
in the College, studying 
Neurobiology. He currently 

does research at the Coate lab where 
he is assisting in the use of mouse 
genetics, in vitro techniques, and 
time lapse imaging to determine the 
function(s) of secreted Ephori-A3, 
a ligand thought to mediate spiral 
ganglion neuron type II turning, in 
cochlear innervation.

Mary Ellen Peterson

Mary Ellen Petersen is 
a rising senior in the 
College, majoring in 

psychology and minoring in art. 
After graduating from Georgetown, 
she plans to continue her studies 
in graduate school and eventually 
pursue a career in the mental health 
field.

Caroline Pawlow

Caroline Pawlow is a rising 
senior from Philadelphia, 
Pennsylvania studying 

health care management and policy 
in the SOH. She is passionate about 
public health and understanding the 
impact of the social determinants of 
health. She plans to pursue a career 
in the medical field in the future.

Avery Kaye

Avery Kaye is a rising junior 
at Georgetown University, 
studying Psychology, 

Cognitive Science, and Linguistics 
in the College. She hopes to pursue 
further research combining these 
disciplines, as well as a future career 
in sports psychology.

Camille Poulin

Camille Poulin is a 
psychology major at 
Georgetown University. 

She is currently working at the 
Montreal Neurological Institute and 
Hospital, where she has rejoined 
the communications division that 
she established while working there 
in 2019 and 2020.  Last summer, she 
wrote a preventative manual that 
explored the relationship between 
perfectionism and eating disorders.
