Conclusion to GIC Special Issue 
 

After having just finished the final edits on this collection of papers, I am inspired by two 
aspects of this process: 

• The major effort that all of our authors put into writing, revising, and finalizing 
their papers and how they openly received feedback on their papers. 

• The fact that even though 90% of our authors are non-native English speakers, 
everyone persevered so that they could clearly express their views, research, 
and ideas for the future to a global audience.  

This collection of papers shares the passion and open minds from students in Russia, 
Nigeria, Pakistan, Ecuador, China, the United States, Kyrgyzstan, and Poland.  By their 
initiatives and energy, our global culture will doubtlessly be guided in very positive 
directions.   

The message shared by all of these papers is that we need to continue to work towards 
progress whether it is intercultural communication, living conditions, health issues, 
education, or equal rights for women.  Every country around the world struggles with 
these same issues and there is no reason to believe that we cannot help each other 
reach better outcomes.   

I want to thank all of our authors.  You were a joy to work with and I hope to work with 
you all again in the future.
