We wish to thank all of the authors who submitted papers and all of the reviewers who took precious time out of their busy schedules to provide constructive feedback to the authors. We were fortunate to have Mariko Eguchi from the University of Shimane in Hamada, Japan, serve as our guest editor for this issue. Her expertise and support were invaluable. We are pleased to announce that, for the first time, this issue of GPEJ includes a special section comprised of student essays along with the regular peer-reviewed papers. Mariko Eguchi provides an introduction to the special Student Section which follows the regular papers. We sincerely thank all who have served on the editorial and review boards over the past two years. Your reviews are essential to maintaining the quality of every issue of GPEJ. Finally, it saddens us to announce that publication of GPEJ will be suspended for at least the next two years. Unfortunately, the current economic climate has resulted in significant cut-backs and organizational reprioritization that do not allow for the resources required for the review and publication process. We thank all who have supported the journal in the past and we look forward to resuming publication as soon as resources allow.
