D. Smith, The Hippocratic Tradition (Ithaca 1979) 191–193, argues that there was no such work of Herophilus πρὸς τὸ Προγνωστικὸν Ἱππο- κρατηους and that Galen was inflating some of Herophilus’ remarks on common opinions into a full-blown polemic.
