The astonishing appearance of the latter is marked by God’s use of the language of wonder and amazement (δράκων γὰρ ἔσται φοβερός, ὥστε θαυµάσαι, the staff “will become a terrifying snake, so that you will be amazed,” Exagoge 123), a familiar aspect of Hellenistic visual description (as discussed above), and the ex- clamations and highly emotional reaction of Moses (124–126): ἰδοὺ βέβληται· δέσποθ᾽, ἵλεως γενοῦ· ὡς φοβερός, ὡς πέλωρος· οἴκτειρον σύ µε· πέφρικ᾽ ἰδών, µέλη δὲ σώµατος τρέµει.	cache/grbs-16955.pdf	txt/grbs-16955.txt
