Beck, Gretchen C. Southard, Audrey B. Adams H OMER might have called Mycenae 17'OAV~AEIC'TPOC as well as 17'OAVXPvcoc: when Schliemann dug the shaft graves within the citadel (now Grave Circle A), he saw in some of them enormous quantities of amber beads;1 Wace found amber in several of the chamber tombs, especially those dating to L.H. I/ll;2 most recently, the discovery of Grave Circle B has yielded a large number of amber beads and some spacers in Grave Omicron.3 This is Schliemann's 'third sepulchre' and in it he found the enor mous quantity of amber beads which prompted his comments quoted in the introductory section above.	cache/grbs-9401.pdf	txt/grbs-9401.txt
