EDITORIAL 

The inaugural 2025 issue of Hamdard Islamicus (Volume 

XLVIII) explores Islam’s adaptive role in addressing modern challenges 

across education, media, finance, socio-economic development, and 

science. Featuring diverse areas of Islamic studies, this collection 

highlights Islam’s capacity to inspire dialogue and actionable solutions in 

a rapidly evolving world.  

The first article, Socialisation and Institutionalisation Process 

of the Moderate Religious Culture in Indonesian Madrasahs explores 

education’s role in nurturing religious moderation. The study reveals how 

Indonesian madrasahs integrate tolerant values into their curricula, 

demonstrating that faith-based education can be a powerful bulwark 

against extremism. These institutions foster social cohesion and model 

inclusive pedagogy by harmonizing tradition with pluralistic modernity. 

The second article transitions to the realm of public 

discourse. Influence of Religion on Pakistani Mainstream Media: An 

Application of Beliefs into Action Scale for Journalists examines the 

delicate balance between personal religious convictions and journalistic 

integrity. Through an innovative "Beliefs into Action Scale," the study 

invites reflection on how media professionals can uphold ethical 

standards while navigating doctrinal fidelity, thereby fostering 

responsible and culturally sensitive public dialogue. 

The third article explores Family Takaful in Bangladesh: 

Operational Dilemmas and Remedial Approaches. It dissects challenges 

in the Islamic life insurance sector and proposes solutions to align 

financial mechanisms with Sharʑah compliance while rebuilding 

consumer trust. 

Complementing this, the fourth article, The Effect of Awqaf 

Properties Investment Fund on Socio-Economic Development in 

Somalia, highlights how effectively managed religious endowments can 

drive socio-economic progress. Together, these studies underscore the 

transformative potential of Islamic finance in combating poverty, 

inequality, and instability through community-centric, ethical models. 

In the fifth article, The Role of Metallurgy in the Holy Qur’Én: 

Historical Contexts and Contemporary Scientific Perspectives, a

fascinating dialogue between past and present bridges exegesis and 

science. By unpacking historical references to metals in the Holy Qur’Én 

and analysing their relevance to modern scientific paradigms, the study 

challenges traditional boundaries between faith and empirical inquiry, 

enriching our understanding of the Holy Qur’Én as both a spiritual guide 

and a knowledge repository. 

These articles present a compelling narrative of Islamic thought’s 

versatility and resilience. A shared commitment to ethical practice and 

holistic development emerges across classrooms, newsrooms, financial 

institutions, and scientific debates. As we navigate the rapid changes of 

the 21st century, this issue advocates for interdisciplinary approaches that 

honour tradition while embracing innovation. It challenges educators, 

policymakers, journalists, and community leaders to harness faith-

inspired frameworks not merely as academic exercises but as blueprints 

for equitable progress and sustainable development. 

May this issue inspire deeper reflection on how our collective 

past informs our future, paving the way for a world where tradition and
