EDITORIAL

Contemporary world has a number of challenges for Muslim
Ummah. Foes of Muslims know very well that Islam gives the best
way of life and gives the best code of conduct for human beings.
They are aware of the fact that the will of the Muslims for
transforming their lives as per teachings of Islam, would lead to
their renaissance. Therefore, they try to deviate Muslims from the
right path and perplex them in unnecessary debates, and fascinate
them in unethical practices. They endeavour to prove Islam as a
religion that teaches atrocity, heinousness and cruelty. On the other
hand they try to detach them from the principal and basic source of
knowledge and perfect code of life, The Holy Qur’Én.

This issue of the Hamdard Islamicus makes a beautiful and
meaningful collage of articles replying forcefully to some of the said
challenges by reasonable logics. It suggests executable ways for
removing human evils from Muslims and create a helpful atmosphere
for building and improving Islamic Society.

The first article “Islam’s RaÍmah (Compassion) As Applied by
Prophet ×aÌrat Muhammad RasËlullah KhÉtam un NabiyyÊn
Øallallahu ‘alaihi wa ‘alÉ Ólihi wa AÎÍÉbihi wa Øallam” rejects the
assertion of Islam’s opponents that Islam is a religion of terrorism
and violence. It proves in detail that Islam is the comprehensive
religion that exhorts on compassion to take care of all the creatures
in the world including animals. Therefore, the allegation that Islam
encourages terrorism is absurd.

The second article “Religious Value Practices and Micro
Enterprises’ Performance in Microcredit Program” throws light on
the practices of religious values and the enterprises’ performance in
microcredit program. The findings of the study show that factors of
religious values such as virtue, observance and persistence have a
significant positive relationship with micro enterprises’ performance.
This study foregrounds the blessings of Islam appearing as the result
of complying religious practice in trade activities as well.

are parents of anyone. Allah Almighty himself the Most Merciful
and Beneficent has bestowed a great mercy and compassion in the
parents creatures especially human beings. Above it, Islam gives a
complete design of parent-child relationship. Discussing this distinct
feature, the third article of this issue “Parenting is Counseling: The
Relationship of the Parent-Child in Islam” asserts that every child
has its own personality, feelings and emotions, therefore the parent
and child relationship needs to be revamped as per Islamic guidance
according to the individuality of each child. It is necessary to nurture
the new generation in correct dimension and to develop it for being
an asset for the entire nation.

Among other challenges faced by Islam there is an alerting
question for insurance. As Islam discourages the conventional
insurance, it was needed to modify conventional insurance to make
it acceptable by Islam. Takaful insurance has been developed keeping
this need in mind. In the fourth article of this issue “The Determinants
of Family Takaful Demand in Pakistan”, the authors have tried to
analyse the relationship among the factors and family Takaful demand
in Pakistan.

The last article of this issue “Rhetorical Devices in the Qur’Én:
Grammatical Shift and Communicated Subject Matters in Surah Al-
Baqarah” presents the great rhetoric of The Holy Qur’Én in very
own words of Allah almighty. The Holy Qur’Énic communication is
abundant in rhetorical devices. Grammatical shift or iltifÉt in Arabic,
as a rhetorical device, is considered a linguistic ornament that is
used widespread in The Holy Qur’Én.
