EDITORIAL 

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. We 

are honoured to present the third issue of the Hamdard Islamicus of 

Volume 46 (2023). This publication features insightful and inspiring 

articles on various Islamic topics, including marriage, governance, 

theology, Takaful and Islamic Social Finance. The contributions from 

esteemed researchers worldwide have undergone rigorous scientific 

analysis to present essential concepts. This issue comprises five academic 

articles and a book review, summarized below: 

The first article, titled “Family Life as the Foundation of Islamic 

Civilization” explores the fundamental role of marriage institutions in 

Islamic culture. It investigates the Islamic perspective on family and 

marriage relationships, emphasizing their profound impact on the culture 

of Muslim societies.  

The second article, “Protection of the Intellect of Persons with 

Disabilities: In the Holy Qur’Én and the Sunnah Perspective” examines 

the stance of the Holy Qur’Én and Sunnah on individuals with disabilities. 

This article discusses intellectual protection for persons with disabilities, 

highlighting Islamic teachings’ ethical and moral considerations 

regarding their inclusion and support. 

The third article, “Anthropomorphic of Gods with Allah 

Almighty and Filmography on Islamophobia in the Cinematic Way of 

America and India: A Critical Analysis” critically analyses the portrayal 

of Almighty Allah in popular culture, focusing on anthropomorphism. It 

provides an in-depth examination of Islamophobia in American and 

Indian films, shedding light on these key issues. 

The fourth article, titled “Determinants of Family Takaful in 

ASEAN: Evidence from Business Unit Sharʑah and Full-Fledged 

Operations” draws on empirical data from fully operational Takaful units 

and Sharʑah-compliant business entities. The study investigates factors 

influencing Sharʑah-compliant business units and full-fledged Takaful 

operations in the ASEAN region, offering key insights into the financial 

stability of this unique Takaful model.

The fifth article, titled “Islamic Social Finance Ecosystem and 

the Role of Crowdfunding: A Proposed Model” In today’s changing 

financial environment, Islamic finance has constantly grown over the last 

few decades to meet the needs of today’s society. Considering this 

situation, this paper suggests a crowdfunding system jointly integrated 

with Islamic social finance, which can provide excess to funds, diversify 

sources of money, and increase community-related to the financial 

system, considering the principles of Islamic finance. Despite several 

challenges, there is the possibility of a positive impact where 

crowdfunding can make Islamic social finance more inclusive, resilient, 

and impactful. 

Finally, the book review of “Toward Islamic English” by Ismā‘īl 

Rājī al Fārūqī summarizes the key points of the book. It reflects how the 

language authentically embodies Islamic values and principles, making it 

a valuable resource for those interested in its relationship with Islamic 

thought. 

In summary, this issue of Hamdard Islamicus provides a 

comprehensive and diverse study of various aspects of Islam. These 

articles significantly contribute to the broader discourse on Islamic 

thought and practice, offering alternative perspectives on the 

contemporary challenges faced by the Muslim world. We hope these 

articles will inspire further discussions and research on these crucial 

topics. 

In conclusion, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the authors 

who chose Hamdard Islamicus as a platform to publish their scholarly 

works. We deeply appreciate the feedback from our readers and eagerly 

anticipate more opportunities to engage in discussions about important
