Although displaced from much of their natural habitat in peninsular Florida by invasive Cuban Brown Anoles (Anolis sagrei), Green Anoles (A.
carolinensis), such as this male from Franklin County, Florida, remain abundant throughout much of the southeastern United States. However, we
should remember to appreciate and conserve common species, lest they become the Passenger Pigeons of tomorrow. See Commentary on p. 105.
