inlawrev-2171	Law Review, Indiana	The Legal History of Zoning for Aesthetic Purposes	1975	17	.pdf	application/pdf	7588	382	59	In 1905, the New Jersey Court of Appeals, in Passaic v. Patterson Bill Posting, Advertising, & Sign Painting Co.7 characterized aesthetic zoning as a luxury, referring to aesthetic considerations as matters of indulgence rather than as matters of necessity.
