Anytime an Officer Questions Another bright-line option is to consider students presumptively in custody, signaling the requirement of a Miranda warning, whenever police question children in school.256 Or at minimum, the custody threshold should be lowered in school settings.257 This test is not meant to deter school resource officers from doing their jobs.258 In fact, the Indiana Supreme Court emphasized in B.A. that its decision does not mean that school resource officers must completely avoid placing students under custodial interrogation—students sometimes commit crimes that require investigation—but school officers must give Miranda warnings and follow Indiana’s juvenile waiver statute when conducting such interviews.259 Still, the Indiana Supreme Court may have been intentionally vague, potentially in an effort to give educators some leeway.260	cache/inlawrev-25125.pdf	txt/inlawrev-25125.txt
