Notice p. 228 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL SUBSCRIBERS AND OTHER READERS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND SUBSCRIPTION AGENCIES Beginning in 2008, with Volume 28, Number 1, Informal Logic will become an open-access on-line journal and, for all intents and purposes, cease to publish paper copies of the journal. This change has been brought on by several factors, including: changes in criteria for funding academic journals in Canada; availability of free (to us) excellent open-access on-line software; increased costs of printing and postage; the goal of wider circulation; the goal of accessibility to scholars and libraries unable to afford journal subscriptions; shorter turn-around time between submission and publication; ability to publish longer articles; ease of production; availability of back-issues (free) on- line. This issue is the Fall 2007 issue of Informal Logic, and the last issue of the journal to be printed on paper and distributed by post. Starting with Volume 28, Number 1, Informal Logic will also publish quarterly. Issues will appear on-line on March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and December 1st each year. Normally, we will publish the articles that are ready for press by the publication date of the current issue. Thus, the number of articles in each number might vary. The URL for the open-access journal is: http://www.informallogic.ca There will be no change in the way articles are refereed (first, blind, by the editors; then, if judged worthy, also blind, by at least two selected reviewers with expertise in the particular area to which the article belongs). Articles will still be indexed as they have been. Also, we are offering to mail out photocopies of issues to those without WWW access, on request and at cost—on the assumption that this offer will not be taken up by many people. Subscribers who have paid for Volume 28 and beyond will receive refunds.
