Editorial EDITORIAL From the Editor This is the first issue of our new “International Journal of Interactive Mobile Technologies” (iJIM). The objective of the journal is to publish and discuss fundamentals, applications and experiences in the field of interactive mobile technologies in learning and teaching as well as in industrial and other applications. The journal aims to bridge the gap between pure academic research and more practical publications. So it covers the full range from research, application development to experience reports and product descriptions. I am very glad that a great number of international well-known experts working in this field have agreed to join the editorial board, always eager to provide interesting and up to date issues on a high scientific level. Fields of interest include, but are not limited to: - Future trends in mobile communication; - Services for mobile networks; - Impact of mobile technologies on social change; - Mobile workplaces; - Emerging hardware and software for mobile solutions; - Mobile Web and video conferencing; - Mobile technology support for educator and student; - Life-long m-learning; - Tools for interactive mobile learning and teaching; - M-learning applications; - Applications of the Semantic Web; - Adaptive environments; - Methods of content adoption; - Mobile laboratories and measurement technologies; - Mobile robots; - Concepts for mobile online engineering; - Multimedia and virtual environments; - Cost-effectiveness; - Real world experiences; - Pilot projects, products and applications. I would like to thank everyone having been involved in the preparation of this journal, especially the members of the editorial board.
