Integration of social behavior and computing is termed as social computing. In general it is related 
to the activities or process that involves innovative use of computing systems to support social 
interaction among users in the virtual world. Social computing has become more widely known 
because of its relationship to a number of recent trends, such as, the growing popularity of software 
and Web 2.0, increased academic and research interest in social network analysis and the rise of the 
open source as a viable method of production, to name a few.  
 
Social computing is among the most popular technologies making their way into our daily lives. 
The ever-growing number of users in social networks has the potential to radically change how we 
do our daily business in the near future. The integration of Web-based social networks with mobile 
phones has led to a growing interest in mobile computing. The main objective of this marriage of 
convenience is to let everyone interact socially, without having to join the proprietary social 
network. The success of this approach lies in, making it flexible for software developers and an 
enjoyable for all the users.  
 
This special issue is intended to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in developing 
and enhancing social mobile computing and services. The objectives for this attempt are to provide 
a forum for discussion of ideas and techniques developed and used in mobile computing and 
services. In addition the forum can also be used for educators and developers to discuss system and 
architecture requirements for social services. Both theoretical papers and papers reporting 
implementation models, technology used and practical results are solicited. 
 
Topics of Interest  
 
We seek outstanding original contributions, including solid theoretical and empirical evaluations as 
well as practical and industrial experiences that solve open research problems and make a 
significant impact to this emerging field. Submitted papers will be evaluated according to their 
significance, originality, and technical quality.

Notification of Acceptance:   February 15th, 2011 
Camera-Ready Submission:  March 10th, 2011

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS  
 
Papers must not have been published, accepted for publication, or presently be under consideration 
for publication elsewhere. A standard double-blind review process will be used for selecting papers 
to be published in this special issue. Authors should follow the instructions outlined at the iJIM
