DENIZ SERT is an associate professor of international relations at Özyeğin University, Istanbul, Turkey. She received her B.A. from the Department of International Relations, Koç Universi- ty, Istanbul, in 2000, a master’s in European Studies from the London School of Economics in 2001, and a PhD in political science from the City University of New York in 2008. After completing her PhD, Sert joined the Koç University Migration Research Center, MiReKoc, where she conducted research on various projects on international migration. She worked as a lecturer at various universities, including Brooklyn College in New York, and Boğaziçi, Okan, and Koç universities in Istan- bul. She currently works as an expert on various commissioned research projects on migration in Turkey. GUILLERMO ALONSO MENESES is a cultural antropologist and a professor-researcher at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, Ti- juana, since 1999. He was a research fellow in the Centre d’Estudis Africans í íntercultur- als (CEA) of Barcelona (1991-1997) and a visiting professor at the Population Studies Center of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, UAEH (1997-1999).
