CHYDENANTHUS MIERS (LECYTHIDACEAE): A CORRECTION

In my article on the genus Chydenanthus Miers in Reinwardtia 10
(1) : 28, 1982, I stated that "the genus, like Barringtonia and Abdul-
majidia, has one- seeded fruit". This statement is partially wrong.
Abdulmajidia fruit has 2 - 5 seeds, the main reason that the genus was
established (Kochumen in Hit. 18 March 1983; Whitmore in Kew Bull.
29 ( 1 ) : 2 0 7 - 2 1 1 . 1974). The type of seed germination of the three
genera is, however, similar. I should like to thank Mr. K.M. Kochumen
of the Forest Research Institute, Kepong, Malaysia, for drawing my
attention to the above error.
