If you would like to become a reviewer, please visit the journal website and register as a reviewer. To access your details on the website, you will need to follow these steps: 1. Log into the online journal at https://safpj. co.za 2. In your ‘user home’ [https://safpj.co.za/index. php/safpj/user] select ‘edit my profile’ under the heading ‘my account’ and insert all relevant details, bio statement and reviewing interest(s). 3. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require assistance in performing this task. Publisher: publishing@aosis.co.za Tel: +27 21 975 2602 Tel: 086 1000 381 The editorial team of the South African Family Practice journal recognises the value and importance of the peer reviewer in the overall publication process – not only in shaping the individual manuscript, but also in shaping the credibility and reputation of our journal. We are committed to the timely publication of all original, innovative contributions submitted for publication. As such, the identification and selection of reviewers who have expertise and interest in the topics appropriate to each manuscript are essential elements in ensuring a timely, productive peer review process. Internationally, Peer Review Week is celebrated annually, and this year’s theme was ‘Trust in Peer Review’ (see: https://peerreviewweek.wordpress.com/peer-review-week-2020/). The importance of reliable scholarly publications has rarely been as pressing as now during the COVID-19 pandemic. Maintaining trust in the peer review decision-making process is essential, as good peer review is critical to scholarly communications. In line with this theme, our new publisher, AOSIS, has introduced system enhancements to assist the editors when working with similarity check integration and the referee database list. The changing health landscape in South Africa and the evolving learning needs of our SAAFP readership require that the journal remains relevant by publishing research and CPD review content of sufficient quality and scientific rigor. This goal will not be possible without a strong network of peer reviewers. Thank you for sharing your expertise and insights and for providing constructive feedback to the authors. We apologise if any reviewer has inadvertently been excluded from this list and to those reviewers who were recruited after this issue was published. Resources to help develop peer-reviewing skills may be accessed from https://publicationethics.org/ peerreview and https://publons.com/community/academy/. Critical appraisal tools are also shared as part of the model answers in the ‘Mastering your Fellowship’ series. A workshop on peer review was held during the 2019 annual SAAFP conference, and we hope to facilitate a similar workshop in 2021. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or training needs in terms of enhancing the journal’s peer review process. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all reviewers who participated in shaping this volume of the South African Family Practice journal. We appreciate the time taken to perform your review(s) successfully. Best wishes, Klaus von Pressentin (Editor-in-Chief) Abdul K. Mia Hamdulay Almero Oosthuizen Andrew Ross Bernhard Gaede Beverley R.
