THE ED IT O R IA L COM M ITTEE would like to take this opportunity o f wishing all their colleagues and friends the com plim ents o f the season. It is through the medium o f this Journal that ideas can be exchanged and discussion stimulated and it is our strongest link with our professional colleagues overseas. A ny contribution that you can give to P hysiotherapy, which would be o f interest to us all, w ould help to strengthen this link; therefore support your journal by sending in articles, treatment notes and discussion points. Our congratulations and good wishes for success in the future are extended to all the Students who have recently passed their Final examinations in the Pretoria Training School and at the University o f Witwatersrand. This is the time o f year when, physiotherapists newly qualified, go out into the world and start an entirely new life as fully responsible people. To quote again part o f the Hippocratic Oath:— “ I solemnly pledge to consecrate my life to the service o f humanity” — means that they have, chosen Service as their life’s work. We as physiotherapists work with people, and we can give to these people only in direct proportion to what we are prepared to give to our work. W e must not feel however that our responsibilities end with our working day. We are responsible people and our duties lip .beyond a time schedule, not only as physiotherapists but as citizens in this troubled world. A s members o f a profession we are expected to participate and contribute towards life as a whole. By giving ourselves wholeheartedly to our work we will derive the m ost satisfaction from it; it will never become a dull routine, our patients will respond to our enthusiastic approach and together we will achieve a great deal. This applies especially to rehabilitation work but can and must be applied in every instance.
