T h e general theme of the congress is “A ctivity in O ccupational T h erap y ” . T h e different speakers will be investigating how p a th o ­ logy influences activity o f all different age groups and how the occupational therapist uses activities an d specia­ lised techniques to enhance function. We are very fo r­ tunate to have internationally know n speakers from countries like Sw itzerland, N ew Z ealand, U.S.A., Israel . . . to com e an d sh are their experience an d ideas on this m atter with us. P R O C E E D IN G S O F E IG H T H IN T E R N A T IO N A L p 1 C O N G R E SS In view of the n u m b er of enquiries being received about th e publication of th e Proceedings o f the Eighth In te r­ nationa] Congress, I am concerned to give to M em ber- O rganisations th e follow ing facts in connection with the m atter. 1. A rrangem ents fo r publishing the Proceedings of a W C P T C ongress are th e responsibility of the Mem- ber-O rganisation acting as host to th e Congress. 2. I t will be recalled th at in th e case of the E ighth C o n ­ gress, th e Proceedings w ere due to appear within six m onths o f the date o f Congress. In th e autum n 1979 N ewsletter, it was noted th a t illness am ong th e staff responsible fo r the editorial work and o th er internal difficulties had caused delay in publication. 3. A t the meeting o f the Executive C om m ittee in N ovem ber, 1979, publication of the Proceedings by th e end o f 1979, was confirmed. 4. It is now learned from Israel th at th e book is still not ready. It is no t the C onfederation, but the N a tio ­ nal U nion o f Physiotherapists in Israel which is re­ sponsible fo r publishing th e book; and while there is no direct action th a t the Executive C om m ittee can take, the N ational U nion of P hysiotherapists is being urged to take all necessary steps to conclude the m atter satisfactorily an d w ithout fu rth e r delay. 5.
