ICU rounds Kcentra® (Prothrombin Complex Concentrate [Human]): Its indications, side effects, and contraindications Amr Ismail MD ABSTRACT Patients with a high risk for thromboembolic events can be on long-term warfarin. These patients need close monitoring of their INR and for signs of bleeding. Conventionally, fresh frozen plasma (FFP) is used for reversal of INR in patients with major bleeding or who need urgent surgery or invasive procedures. Kcentra is now available as an alternative to FFP for rapid reversal of INR and urgent hemostasis.
