Microsoft Word - Dedication.doc Iris Marion Young, Professor in Political Science at the University of Chicago and a pioneering feminist philosopher who made groundbreaking contributions to political philosophy and phenomenology died on August 1, 2006. Her work bridged divides between analytic and European philosophy and between high-level theory and grassroots activism. In addition to her contributions as a social theorist, Dr. Young was a committed political activist who marched with picketing workers in Chicago. Dr. Young died a few months after agreeing to serve on the editorial board of Studies in Social Justice. We dedicate this first issue to the memory of Dr. Young.
